Fans were treated to a party at Mavricks Concert Hall in Barrie Saturday night, as Cold Creek County hit the stage in a big way. The band had scheduled a couple Ontario shows after wrapping up the last of their west coast dates on the Happy Endings tour with Old Dominion and fellow Canadians The Washboard Union, including the appearance at Mavricks, to a packed house with over 700.
The night kicked off with local boys The Mudslingers, and it was a strong set from the band. Even with only a limited time on stage, the fellas kicked it into high gear from the go and didn’t let up for a solid 30+ minutes. It was my first time seeing the band live, and I was impressed.
After the Slingers wrapped up, it was time to grab a few bevies, and prepare myself for another high-energy performance from one of Canada’s hottest country acts. As soon as Cold Creek County hit the stage you could just see it in the guys’ faces — they were ready for a party.
It didn’t take long before the crowd was singing along with almost every song. Obviously some with the most audience participation included hits like Our Town, and Beer Weather, as well as the band’s latest single This Town Is You, the latter being my personal favourite. It was about half way through the set when they invited a few folks up on stage to partake in some “crazy” fun.
The crowd never stopped, and that made the atmosphere in the venue electric. Having seen a few sold out shows at Mavricks over the last couple years, I have to say this crowd was one of the best behaved, yet probably the most vocal. We hope to see Cold Creek on some festival stages this summer, for sure.
Huge thanks to Cabin Media for supply our contest winners with tickets and Meet & Greet passes to the show — they had a blast. We’d also like to thank Mavricks for bringing in such great talent to the region.
Be sure to follow Cold Creek on their socials…
