The population of London, Ontario swelled considerably last weekend as the city hosted the amazing 2017 Country Music Association of Ontario Awards.
The CMAOs are a four-day, jammed packed country music extravaganza that brought artists, industry folks, and loads of media and fans to several venues throughout London. The city is definitely a country music hotbed and this past weekend proved that.
Featured events of CMAO weekend included the first Legacy Show with performances by the pioneers of country music here in Ontario along with some special guests. These included The Good Brothers, Wendell Ferguson, Charlie Major, Marie Bottrell, Kiley Joe Masson, and
Genevieve Fisher.

There were conferences with many keynote speakers that covered two days of networking and learning from industry professionals, plus a mentors breakfast.  Saturday night featured for the first time in CMAO history and a free Block Party in downtown London. Performers included Eric Ethridge and River Town Saints.

Over at Labatt Memorial Park  a charity softball game was held pitting Team Country against a team of London Media (Team Country won). And a post game concert featured Genevieve Fisher, Leah Daniels, and The Abrams.

This awards program is such a fun and exciting evening. Fans and media are able to get really close to the amazing talent that we have here in Ontario. Hosted by Jason McCoy from The Road Hammers, who brings his experience and amazing wit, everyone is treated to great musical performances and the excitement and anticipation of finding out who wins the awards.

As is standard practice now, the Western Swing Authority was the house band for the gala, along with performances by The Abrams,  Jason Blaine, Cold Creek County, Genevieve Fisher, Tim Hicks,
James Barker Band, Jessica Mitchell, Meghan Patrick, Aaron Pritchett, River Town Saints, and Deric Ruttan.

It was another amazing night of fun, and an amazing list of artists went home with some new hardware. Here’s a recap of the awards and the list of talented nominees and winners. And wow, (or is that Bow Chicka Wow Wow), did Meghan Patrick ever have an exceptional night hauling off with four awards!
