Canadian Music Week kicked off on Tuesday with a Boots And Hearts KX Country Hot Shots Concert Series at The Phoenix in Toronto with Kris Barclay, Kendra Kay, Andrew Hyatt, Alee and headliner Drake White.
Kris Barclay got the night going. Great guy and someone I personally have been trying to catch for some time. A perfect fit to get the night going and crowd excited. Kris has some great tunes, one of which he wrote with Boots And Hearts Emerging Artist winner Vanessa Marie Carter. Keep an eye out for this guy.
Next up was Kendra Kay. She didn’t hold back with some powerful vocals. Looking like she had a great time performing for the crowd at The Phoenix. Kendra representing the women of the night well and we’ll likely see more of her going into the summer months.
Andrew Hyatt. This guy is a gem. I have seen him a couple times and he always leaves a big impression. High energy and emotion, the guy just brings the house down every time. The last time I saw him it was an acoustic set which, was great. At the Phoenix he had a solid band backing him and they played heavy and loud. Loved it. Any chance you get to catch Andrew over the summer and festival season, do it.
Now the women’s turn again with Alee. I have heard a lot about Alee as of late and she definitely delivered. A beautiful talent all around, with a surprise announcement for the audience towards the end of her set. She will be performing at this years Boots And Hearts. Great opportunity for her and for country fans to learn of this passionate and authentic artist.
Drake White and The Big Fire hit the stage to cap off the night and it is quite an experience. Drake is a powerhouse vocalist and writes some great tunes like Makin’ Me Look Good Again, and It Feels Good which you can’t help but clap, stomp, sing too. Always a killer show with Drake and it was great to see him up in the north with his band and Mr. Wickles.
A great kickoff to CMW and a great appetizer to Boots And Hearts 2017 put on by KX Country and the Boots crew. Lookin’ forward to the festival of course and to catching all of these artists over the course of the summer!
