When you can celebrate Canada’s 150 birthday, and see some amazing artists, and do it in beautiful Niagara-On-The-Lake, you have a winning event!
The lineup of artists was great with Dear Rouge, Stars, The Strumbellas, Blue Rodeo and City and Colour closing things out. The day was hosted by Wayne and Daryl from Letterkenny which made sure this was pure Canadiana through and through.
The grounds were packed with people eager to just have a great time. And they did. Getting loud with give and take banter with Wayne and Daryl, impromptu singing of Oh Canada, and a rousing happy birthday singalong with the hosts prior to City And Colour’s appearance. And why wouldn’t everyone be in the best of moods? The weather was perfect, a little hot but that’s what we want out of our short summer months. The rain held off even with some threatening clouds. It was a beauty evening.
We do apologize to Dear Rouge and Stars. Traffic getting into the venue was really heavy and that delayed us from getting in early like we normally do for a show. So we were unable to photograph these amazing artists, but we’ll catch up with you next time and cover one of your next shows!
We would suggest for future events, perhaps finding a different location that has bigger, wider access roads to help reduce the congestion and allow people to arrive on time. But all in all, it was a great day of music and celebrating in big Canadian style and we thank the organizers and all the artists for having us there.
