The venerable Vogue Theatre in Vancouver was host to a charity concert held by the Vancouver Canucks Alumni and JrFM new country radio last week.
A line-up that promised a good time included local country stars Aaron Prichett and Chad Brownlee as well as The Odds, a group synonymous with fun music and the Canucks. The Odds, with guest guitarist Gary Nylund, kicked things off after a stirring introduction by long-time Canuck PA announcer John Ashbridge.
Aaron Prichett and his band took over and amped the energy level up with a rousing set.
Chad Brownlee played ‘the third period’ and had everyone singing and bouncing on the dance floor. The Odds came back to play ‘overtime’ with Aaron and Chad and several Canuck alumni made appearances on stage. Including a rousing Will Ferrell cowbell imitation by Kirk McLean, Cliff Ronning and Jack MacIlhargey taking lead vocals for ‘Mississippi Queen’ and even Garth Butcher sang a song.
For a final treat, a special musical guest was brought out and was none other than Vancouver resident Colin James, fresh off his cross-country tours. Despite some amp issues which he brushed off like a pesky back-checker, Colin scored the winner for the home team and the fans went home happy.
We want to thank Chad Brownlee and the rest of the crew for having us out to the show.
