On March 4th, Comfortably Numb – Canada’s Pink Floyd Show, returned to Algonquin Commons Theater to present their tour “The Pigs, Wishes & Moons”. This tour was to celebrate Floyd’s Animals album which recently turned 40 years old. It is said that this tour was to replicate Pink Floyd’s 1975 Boston Garden concert. There was not a single vacant seat in Algonquin’s 700 capacity venue.
Pink Floyd fans can expect a three hour performance with stunning visuals to launch them back into the 70’s. Formed in 1993, this five-piece cover band have travelled all over the world since their inception. Performing in Panama, and right here in their home city of Ottawa. This particular show’s anatomy consisted of works from Animals, Dark Side of the Moon, and Wish You Were Here.
Founding member, AK has a vast musical background. Studying musical styles such as rock, jazz, and flamenco, there is no question he takes his craft, and passion very seriously. Other members include Chris Houle (drums), Brent Hultquist (keys and sax), Solveig Keshavjee (vocals and keys), and Paul Oatway (bass). All of which are the original members, which is quite evident when witnessing them perform live. Nearly a quarter of a century of musicianship creates such a unique stage presence.
It was an absolute pleasure witnessing these artists perform classic songs from a band that had such a heavy influence in the 1970’s music scene. I highly recommend attending this experience if you ever have the opportunity.
