Dallas has fans feeling the Side Effects…
Dallas Smith kicked off his cross-country tour in Halifax on Thursday followed up with another show in Truro, Nova Scotia last night. Dallas has fans feeling the side effects. Like an addiction, he has fans on such a high leaving them wanting more.
A few weeks ago our own Corey Kelly posted an article about Brett Kissel being the first to headline a large festival such as Boots and Hearts. Now, I am not here to argue that fact as I think we have many artists here in Canada that could do just the same. Artists like Tim Hicks & Dean Brody to name a few.
But I am here to tell you that Dallas Smith could easily headline one of the nights at Cavendish Beach Music Festival. Dallas is your current top-selling album sales CCMA winner. I of course added to that count by purchasing my first LP without owning a record player. I guess that comes next. Dallas has opened for many big acts of the years and has paid his dues per say. Dallas has opened and tour with acts such as Keith Urban, Brantley Gilbert, Florida Georgia Line and many more.
This is Dallas’ first headline tour with his own lighting, production, sound and artistic approach. I was completely blown away by his first two shows of this tour. And it is no surprise to me. I have photographed Dallas now at least five times and is the most exciting artist for me to photograph. Not always the easiest with his high energy and constant moving around.
Now what made this show even more special is that he is helping out other Canadian Country Artists. Andrew Hyatt and Shawn Austin added just that extra touch to his show. Not to mention Cold Creek County opening up the show. This is the first time for me seeing CCC with new lead singer Ches Anthony. He adds the sound and feel that Cold Creek County needed. Fans were ecstatic when they finished up their set with the Chris Stapleton cover of Tennessee Whisky. The vocal and harmonies were tight and smooth.
I had dropped into the venue early in the day to check out the layout for shooting when I was approached by Dallas Smith who shook my hand and introduced himself. Call me old fashion but this small gesture went along with me as in our world where people never seem to have the time to just chat and listen to one another. Dallas and I chatted for about 20 minutes on just about everything. Dallas is a class act and deserves to be headlining his own tour and festivals.
After this tour fans will be left feeling the side effects and craving for more Dallas Smith. We can only hope here in the East Coast that Dallas makes his return to Cavendish Beach Music Festival and maybe just maybe he will be the headliner.
