On November 11th at Mavrick’s Concert Hall in Barrie Dani Strong put on one heck of a show for her album release party. I have been a fan of this young woman for a couple years now and feel she just may have one of the best voices in Canada at the moment. The evening started off with Uxbridge native Ben Hudson taking the stage. Ben is an emerging artists on the country music scene and did a fantastic job kicking things off with just his voice and his six string in hand.
Following Ben’s solid set was Toronto based Torero was up next. Having never seen this band it was a really pleasant surprise. The vocals mixed with the 70’s honky tonk / folk sound really seemed to work. And hope to catch them one night when they get the opportunity to headline the show.
Following Torero was the lady who brought the crowd to Mavricks on this beauty of a night. Dani Strong took to the stage to a rousing ovation from the crowd and didn’t take long to get the party really movin’.
Dani has her BRAND NEW album Time To Breathe currently on iTunes and it just so happened to land the #1 spot on iTunes during her initial release on Oct 20th. A feat most independent artists may not get a chance to experience. But it really is no surprise. This girl can sing and is such a beautiful person inside and out. I really can’t go through the entire set song by song because each song has its special moments. I can tell you that my favorite song of the night was Where The Heck is Dixieland. It just has you engaged from the very first note. If you don’t already own Time To Breathe we strong suggest you do so.
