Tour Bus Entertainment has made many stops in just a short time frame during the final month of 2016. Our final bus stop of the year took us to Halifax, Nova Scotia at the Casino where Country Rocker , Dallas Smith was ringing in the New Year. Smith was not just performing one show on this night but rather two shows which both were sold out quickly. Smith having a great year himself touring with Keith Urban and taking home some hardware at the Canadian Country Music Awards in London, Ontario seemed happy to be back in Halifax with family and friends.
Fans in Halifax were not going to be disappointed. There is no better party than an Eastcoast Kitchen Party. Fans flooded in for the first show and they didn’t remain in their seats for long before rushing the stage where they remained for the entire show. Fans were treated to all of the best songs by Dallas as well as some new songs off his latest album Side Effects.
The audience ranged from young to lets just say the not as young, proving that Dallas Smith’s music targets a variety of people. I am sure there were fans there that followed him from his days as the lead singer to one of Canada’s best rock bands awhile back with Default. I am also sure that if Dallas was to stop singing on this night the audience would have performed everyone one of his songs for him. The room was electrified and I was shocked to see that it was even more energized during the second performance which I didn’t think was possible. Also during the second performance the local country radio station arranged for a fan to come up on stage to propose to his girlfriend. Dallas then asked them to remain on stage and dance to his hit song Autograph.
It was great to see that Mrs. Smith, in town as well as all the other wives and significant others to ring in the New Year. It definitely added a more personal feel to the show. The fans were treated as family and friends and allowed into the life of Dallas Smith if only for a night. I was pressed into a very small pit between the audience and the stage which seemed to get tighter as the show went on. Fans pressing harder to get closer to Dallas passing and tossing their cellphones for Dallas selfies. We all know that Dallas has an exceptional skill set for catching cellphones and taking photos while performing.
It was a challenging night photographing Dallas but that would not stop me for grabbing some great moments from the night. Dallas does not stop during his shows and can often be seen hanging out on the wings of the stage or standing on speakers shaking hands and performing to the fans. I believe it is this challenge as a photographer makes him my most desired artist to cover. Not to mention singing along to his songs and trying to hold a camera steady does not work well either.
At 12:00am 2017 began, kisses were had , drinks were drank and Dallas performed a few more songs before putting 2016 behind us completely and wrapping up an amazing night of music.
