Concerts with full bands are always a great show but there is also something special when the shows are stripped down and has just the artist and the bare essentials. No big fancy production just the acoustic show. That is just what Dean Brody did for two shows at Casino, NS in Halifax. The shows were very intimate with Brody explaining the story behind many of the songs and treated fans to songs that never make his regular shows.
Brody lets you into his life through his music. Many of his songs have personal feelings attached to them and on these nights he was far from shy on sharing his music or feelings. Brody plays every song with the same feeling and passion that inspired him to write them.
Of course we heard many of his hit songs as well as his new single 8th day. Brody took us deep into his life describing his childhood and growing up a small rural town in British Columbia with weekly trips to town with his parents and live farm animals.
This was truly a great show from start to finish and the start of what I am sure the rest of Canada will get to see and feel in the new year.
I must mention that I had the pleasure meeting Dean before both shows. Dean was very appreciative of the photographs I have captured over the years in particular a photo of him panning his chainsaw during the Road Trip Tour. From one artist to another there is not greater feeling hearing that he enjoys my work. It was easy to see why fans have voted Dean Brody as CCMA Fans Choice winner.
