The 14th edition of Rock the Park in London Ontario’s Harris Park kicked off Wednesday night with BX93 Gone Country night and The Bus was there to bring you the action.
The weather gods smiled on the park and the assembled masses by delivering dry weather as rain and thunderstorms rolled all around the region. But the dry weather meant we were a “GO” for some country music.
Jason Benoit started the night off with his party tracks and got the crowd fired up with all his hits. This was an ample and enthusiastic crowd of country music fans who know Jason Benoit well, and he brings a party. It was a great kickoff for sure from the man from the maritimes and a nice bit of Canadian content to the program.
Next to take the stage was Brett Young who has been touring with both Kelsea Ballerini and today’s headliner Lady Antebellum. Brett Young was by far a favorite of the ladies who had packed the park to catch his set. His hits In Case You Didn’t Know and Sleep Without You had those ladies all signing along with this California kid, and his interaction with his audience was spot on.
After Brett, it was Kelsea Ballerini’s turn to take over. Man, she really took to the stage full throttle with hit after hit. Of course, Yeah Boy and Dibs had the place hopping and Kelsea was bopping around the stage. There was a lot more of that crowd singing along with her during her set and her energy was great. She was loved by the Rock The Park / Gone Country crowd.
Lady Antebellum capped off the night as our headliners, with their power packed show and stellar vocals. They are currently on their You Look Good World Tour and have definitely hit their stride. Man, they really sounded good! An incredible show which included a set list of all the favourites. They too know how to connect with their audience and delivered a polished show. This was a super finish to the dedicated country music day of the festival.
Stay tuned as we have 4 more nights of Rock The Park lined up for you with wall to wall coverage from London. You can still grab tickets to selected shows at rockthepark.ca
