St. Paddy’s Day with Chase Rice @ Mavricks
This past Friday night Chase Rice and Dan Davidson came to party for St. Patricks Day in Barrie, Ontario and party they did!
Kicking off the night of green beer at a SOLD OUT Mavricks Music Hall was Alberta’s own, Dan Davidson. Now if you are a true country music fan and listen to Canadian country radio there is absolutely ZERO chance you don’t know who Dan Davidson is. With one of the hottest songs last summer in FOUND and his recent single BARN BURNER is doing just that, burning up the charts. Dan’s sound is refreshing and his performance was spot on. We don’t get to see artists from the West as much as we would like over here in Ontario but we sure hope Dan comes back this summer with multiple dates.
There was just enough time for the thirsty patrons to make their way to the bar for a couple more shamrock specials before Chase hit the stage (approx. 11pm). And just as he hit that stage things got crazy at Mavricks! The sold out crowd was in a frenzy as Chase and his band of misfits rushed the stage. The last time Chase was in the area he performed over at Burls Creek during Boots & Hearts this past summer and it seemed as though he started right where he left off. SMOKIN’…
A great set from a killer songwriter. Chase brought the party throughout the night with songs from his albums Dirt Road Communion and his lastest offering Ignite The Night (2014). He played the fan favourites like How She Rolls, Everybody We Know Does and of course Ready, Set Roll but the songs that really stood out to me and showed the song writers side was Jack Daniels and Jesus along with his brand new release If I’m Bein’ Honest. This slowed the pace of the show down a bit but in a good way. And also allowed Chase to bring us into his living room with just him and his guitar and 1100+ country music lovin’ friends.
It was great to see Chase bring up a lucky fan that just so happened to be standing up at the balcony for the show and brought the mother of four up to chat and have an experience every woman in the audience was dreaming for. I am a huge fan of artists doing stuff like this. I think it only enhances the show and gives a lucky fan something to tell their family and friends for years to come. So, kudos goes out to Chase for keepin’ it real. The sold out crowd at Mavricks also thanks you for one hell of a party! And speaking of party.. The guys in Chase’s band are just always on fire. They are great additions to the show rather than standing off in the shadows these boys are front and centre and make for one hell of an experience.
Talking with one of the concert goers just after the show they couldn’t stop raving how great the show was and how great a venue it was to see a show in. Not sure if Chase will be back in Canada this summer yet but fingers crossed.
We also want to send out a HUGE Thanks to the folks at Invictus Entertainment. These people bring Canada some pretty amazing entertainment coast to coast and the team here at #TheBus appreciate the opportunity.
