Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls get your clicking fingers ready because Sirius XM and the Canadian Country Music Association have teamed up for the Top Of Country contest and there are 9 artists putting it all on the line.    

So what is this Top of Country contest you ask?  Well the fine folks over at Sirius XM and the CCMA’s are looking for Canada’s next BIG THING in Country and have narrowed down the entries and selected the final 9 artists.  Those nine have all recorded their song and it is now posted.

The artists are broken-down into 3 regions West Coast / Central & East Coast.  Representing the West is Shawn Austin, Leaving Thomas & Kristin Carter.  Central Region is represented by Andrew Hyatt, The Red Hill Valleys & Cory James Mitchell.  And the East Coast is represented by Jason Benoit, Chris Ryan and Ian Janes putting their hats in the ring.  Here is the breakdown of the contest.


9 artists that played their hearts were invited to one of the 3 studio sessions in Toronto, Halifax, and Vancouver to record the song that is now posted.


The videos are now posted online HERE, for a nation-wide vote to pick the 3 finalists.  YOU can vote for your favourite performance DAILY!


The 3 finalists will get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to hone their craft with education, mentoring, and exposure at SiriusXM events. The finalists will perform at Canada’s biggest country music festivals, take part in a Mentor Session in Toronto hosted by the Canadian Country Music Association and SiriusXM, and be flown down to Nashville with SOCAN for a week-long songwriting camp after the contest ends.


All 3 finalists will open for a headliner during The CCMA’s Country Music Week, in front of industry professionals and big names in country music. Judges will then announce the winner of $25,000 and who will claim the title of SiriusXM’s Top of the Country.

The finalists are getting the mentorship opportunity of a lifetime in partnership with the CCMA, and a chance to perform in front of some of the best crowds in country music.

Finalists will also be flown down to Nashville with SOCAN for a week-long songwriting camp.

The winner will also receive a spot at a SOCAN’s songwriting camp on Pender Island in B.C.
